Understand where your money goes.
UseWise is an offline-first personal and household money planner, built around one idea: every amount of money has a source, a place, a purpose and a history.

In developmentPlatform: Android
A production Android build exists and a closed test on Google Play is being prepared. UseWise is not yet publicly available, so there is no download link.
Know where your money is. Know what it’s for. Use it wisely.
The problem
Without clear, accessible records and summaries, it is hard to see where money goes each month. Spending patterns stay invisible until the balance runs low.
The solution
UseWise lets people record money in and out, organise it into pockets and places, plan how income is split, and see where it stands, with records kept on the phone and syncing only if the user chooses.
What it does
Features present in the current Android build.
Pockets and places
Track cash, bank accounts and e-wallets as places, and give money a purpose with pockets.
Money in and out
Record income and expenses and see the balance at a glance.
Income plans
Split income across pockets with saved allocation plans.
Goals and budgets
Set savings goals, follow progress and review reports.
Households
Share a space with family; roles decide who can see and do what. Internal loans between pockets are tracked.
Easy mode
A simpler number-pad flow with “usual” items, designed for sellers and daily-wage workers.
Receipt and QR scanning
Read a receipt or a PromptPay QR code on the phone to fill in an expense. Pictures are not saved or sent.
Read to me
A speaker button reads a screen aloud using the phone’s own text-to-speech; hidden while amounts are hidden.
Private by design
PIN or biometric unlock, and an option to hide amounts on screen.
Ask UW.ai
Ask simple questions about your spending; the assistant never changes your money unless you tap Approve.
Five languages
English, Thai, French, Kinyarwanda and Tamil.
Optional sync and deletion
Create an account to sync between devices, and delete the account from inside the app.
Screenshots
Public screenshots will use synthetic data only.
How it is built
The path data takes, from the phone to the optional server.
- 1
Mobile app
Expo / React Native, TypeScript
- 2
On-device database
SQLite with SQLCipher encryption; key in the Android secure store
- 3
Optional sync
Account-based, over HTTPS; changes queue offline in an outbox
- 4
API server
Node.js with Fastify; passwords hashed with Argon2id
- 5
PostgreSQL
Row-level security restricts each household’s records
Hosted with Docker behind a Cloudflare Tunnel. This describes how the software is built; it is not a security certification.
Privacy and data handling
- Records are stored on the phone in an encrypted database and leave it only if the user creates an account and turns on sync.
- No advertising and no analytics or crash-reporting services.
- Receipt reading, camera scanning and Ask UW.ai run on the phone in this release.
- Accounts can be deleted in the app or through a public web page.
No security certification or regulatory compliance is claimed. See the full privacy policy for details.
